well i, playig GW since the late stages of the BETA am also a millionaire. Accumulated 1 million gold in storage and about 50-60k on one of my chars. Also have around 95 ecto and 100 shards. ordered my 15k armors across all chars and can easily go buy a 2nd FoW set if i really needed. but i dont. Not too bad I think.

I am proud to say i didnt turn to ebay to make myself a success. For me, it was farming before the rune trader came out. hill giants in riverside. made a killing...ever since then it was farming greens or just spotting a good deal when i saw it and selling for a higher price. i have more money than i will ever want or need. but it helps when u have 5 PVE chars to have a lot of money so that you can buy runes and decetn weapons for them. the key to it is knowing where you can make the money. screw ebay.

Where to people get all the cash!? I don't believe for a SECOND that they're sitting in town buying and reselling things to make that kind of coin, nor do I think it's possible to "farm" for this kinda cash.

I dunno, seems as if everyone's a millionaire.

I like to browse eBay for GuildWars stuff to view the skins on items, and see how insane some things are priced. At the moment, eBay gold is about 74.95USD for 1000k, 3 weeks ago it was 38USD for 1000k.

This indicates an influx of people buying. So, I'll have to assume the greater population of GuildWars players is eBaying it, then saying they "farmed" it. It's a shame really...

Why?

Because without eBay, things wouldn't sell for excess of 100k often, or possibly at all. Shame really. Just want a Gothic Sword with +5 energy mod for my pretty Necress...

Rant ended

I think the problem is that the economy needs more stuff to buy.

people love to keep playing the game, I think there needs to be more optional money sinks, and things to get. we need a wider arrange of wanted things.

why should only runes be worth anything? lets make 10,000 other rare materials and weapons and other crazy stuff to add to the flavor of the world.

Ahem, that last t-shirt you bought at Wal-Mart, from where do you think it's coming from?

Getting money from GW, is not so difficult if you take immediately advantage of the new farming trends as soon as they are discovered. Some people made fortune by farming the ettins runes, by farming UW, by having a few HoD swords in storage they could sell for 200k each.

Of course, some people will buy gold on ebay. But seriously, what does it change in your life?

well i'm one of those millionairs. Having > 1000k and quite a few ectos and worthless shards. I have all my bags full with goldies/greenies/materials all either good-excellent. How did i do this?

I farmed at places that were easy to farm just once in a while. Now i have this 1000k. I lately gave someone 200k, and i didn't even noticed. A few days later and it was back full.

This has nothing to do with bragging, but if people would just stop buying stuff, and just get it, then you will see that you will gain more money. Ofcourse buying something isn't a bad thing, but buying everytime until your pockets are empty is , i think dumb.

I see no problem with people buying gold off eBay. Hey, that means more people who are capable of buying the things I want to unload (but not merch). Without eBay, how many people would seriously be able to buy minipets, or Zodiacs, or anything like that?

The gold would be there, regardless of who has it. The farmers don't spend it; the people who buy it do, and it puts it in my (and your) hands.

Spent my whole storage farmed for 5 hours between 2 days im at 100 k . Feels good to farm now I need to max it out again.

Um ya you should have a problem with EBAYING GOLD, it's against the rules and EULA.

Okay, aside from that, it doesn't harm anybody.

And no, for the record, I do not partake. I simply don't find it harmful.

umm.. yes it does harm people.. it harms the games economy and invariably people! But enough about ebay, we all know that the reason people can ebay is because of bots and farming :P

Just out of curiousity, why didn't they try to change the skill protective spirit when 55 monks came out? I would have thought that the game economy would not be so bad since farming would not be nearly as common.

As for affording mini-pets.. do you really think everyone ebays? No :P, they are cheap like me and look for in game methods to get their gold. But I have to agree with this:

"but the divide between the average player and the mega rich player, is only getting larger."

As a newer player to the game, I found that it is VERY hard to introduce yourself into the market without already playing for a long time and by the time you finish the game.. just maybe have enough to buy/sell your way up. The problem? You finished the game! Now time for pvp and farming for good weapons? Not to be offending, but the PvE of guild wars isn't something to brag about and the fact that there is no affordable economy in the game doesn't help very much for newer players to the game. Imagine joining now and without having a 55 monk.. I can only guess how many hours of play are required before someone can actually be able to spend 20k easily a few times.

I've heard people say thing again and again and they allways fail to prove it. I've even gone with ppl to help them do their so called "100k a day farming" and they allways have "bad luck". These people never say WHERE they farm, or HOW they farm. Everything is allways a secret or just happens to not work that day. I'll believe it when I see it.

um 10k an hour farming for 10 hours is 100k. 100k a day is rubbish. can most probably earn that using the trolls at drok who are the most useless farmable things in the game lol. people dont say so people who cant think for themselves can jack their stuff. heck i was running drok after the update which made it harder for 3/4k a person. running for hours on end earned me a nice amount of gold. now you can barely fill a group with the amount of people having ago at it. what you got to do is actually think and not have a mentallity that anything other than what is said on forums and in-game is the only way.

It has little to do with EBay and more to do with the fast leveling curve in this game. It takes what? A week? maybe two to get a character through the game? That's just playing casually. Ok so after that what do you do? PvP? Well yes you can but some of us don't like that part of the game so what do we do? We go looking for loot. When you eventually have everything you want what else is there to do? Find more loot and help people out. During the course of those two activities you can gather an awful lot of loot. When you have nothing to spend it on it accumulates rather quickly. I blew 750K on new characters in factions and I've still got over 300K just from what was left over and fro playing through the game, not farming mind you just playing through. The new drop tables make it easy too. I got some hella nice dagger the other day, plagueborn skin which isn't rare but the mods were nice. Max damage req.7 15% damage always. Armor -10, Armor +7 and hit points +30. Sold those for 100K + 3 ecto. It's ridiculously easy to make money without having to resort to EBay. It's all a matter of getting where you want to be and then saving.

i believe those 100k a day guys...and i still laugh at them.
during the height of my trading career i could clear a 2 mil profit per week...and do it with selling less than 3 dozen items. and in trade, once you make a name for yourself, you often dont even have to look for things; people you dont even know will literally pm you out fo the blue trying to sell you crap you dont need...but what the heck...you can make a 100k profit on it.

Wow, beyond the new frontiers of stupidity here from the people you went along with... its mainly a matter of how intense their time online is. If they farm for 5-6 hours straight, say Elona, which nets around 500 gp per run... takes 2-3 minutes with an Ele. Call it 20 runs an 10,000 per hour. Thats 50-60k, very boring and unfun... and there are far more profitable places to farm.

exactly, i still do not understand why people think 100k a day is impossible. i would be embarrased to admit i did not know how to make more than a 100k in a day.
